Research Visit to Alfred-Wegener Institute in Helgoland

As part of the Horizon Europe GREENLand project, Dr. Nataša Stojić, Associate Professor at Educons University, completed a research and training visit to the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) on Helgoland Island, Germany (May 10–17, 2025).

During her stay, Dr. Stojić had the opportunity to receive in-depth, hands-on training in microplastic analysis using the LUMOS II µFTIR instrument and siMPle software — learning directly from Dr. Sebastian Primpke, one of the leading experts in the field.

She also met with Dr. Amy Lusher, a globally recognized authority in microplastics research, to explore possibilities for future collaboration on new research proposals — especially within the Horizon Europe framework.

In addition to the technical training, several strategic meetings were held with partners from the GREENLand project. The discussions focused on strengthening ongoing collaboration and preparing for joint participation in upcoming calls.

This visit was a valuable step forward in building technical capacity, fostering international collaboration, and setting the stage for future scientific initiatives addressing microplastic pollution.
